Benefits of Using Essential Oils

Different smells have the power to lower stress, wake you up, put you to sleep and even boost attraction. Believe it or not, different smells can affect the types of dreams that we have! Smells play a big role in our emotions and they affect our physical & mental health.

A specific perfume can remind you of your grandmother and the smell of your favorite restaurant can bring you back to your first date there, but some scents can actually improve your health. Essential oils can help you relax, sleep, improve your skin or digestion — their benefits go beyond just a pleasant smell or a memory.

Technically speaking, essential oils aren't oils at all - they lack fatty acids. They are "highly concentrated plant components." It can take a large amount from a plant to get out a small portion of essential oil. For example, 4,000 pounds of Bulgarian roses are required to get only one pound of oil. This is the reason why some essential oils can be very expensive.

Essential oils have proven to solve the problems of many issues, like headaches and anxiety. Whenever I have a headache, I rub some peppermint oil onto the back of my neck and on my temples and within 10 minutes, my headache is gone! I know it seems too good to be true and I found it very hard to believe until I actually tried it, but believe me it works like magic! There are different oils that help with anxiety as well, lavender and balance are my favorite though. I rub them onto the inside of my wrists and I sometimes put a few drops into the palm of my hands and inhale them in. They help calm down my nerves and relax my body. They help me stay grounded and clear my head from irrelevant matters.

Different oils can also strengthen our immune system and help us fight of diseases. Our sense of smell is more powerful than most of us even realize. The scent of a room can affect people's mood and either improve or worsen their health.
